為何某些人特別易招惹蚊子？有幾種說法，像是體質偏酸或是體溫較高的人。日本16歲的田上大喜（たがみだいき）看見妹妹常被蚊子叮咬，身為「妹控」的他開始研究，一開始以為是腳臭的關係，後來才發現妹妹博客來網路書店 腳上的細菌太多，一共有1279種，只要出門時先清潔一下腳板，被咬的機會大減至三分之一。

據《NHK》報導，就讀京都教育大學附屬高中的田上大喜，因居住郊區的關係，一家人常被蚊子騷擾，但他發現妹妹特別容易被叮，尤其是腳部，常被叮成「紅豆冰」一樣。田上大喜為幫助妹妹減輕蚊苦，特別拿對方穿的衣服與自己的比較，覺得妹妹的襪子特別受蚊子喜愛。

田上大喜一開始以為是襪子太臭的關係，後來研究發現妹妹腳底有1279種細菌，自己也才428種，相較之下多出851種。田上大喜為了證明研究是對的，叫妹妹出門時先用消毒酒精擦拭腳，結果被蚊子叮的機會大減至三分之一，終於完成他的心願，減緩妹妹腳癢痛苦。

據報導，皮膚上的細菌會分解身體上的死皮，成為體味的一部份，部分細菌會產生脂肪酸等化合物，平常對人類沒有極大的影響，但對蚊子就不一樣，牠們超愛這一味，這就是某些人容易招蚊子喜愛的原因之一。
